Theoretical Application/Approaches

In physical therapy school, the clinician learns a little about a lot of different areas. After graduation, it is up to the clinician to study their area of expertise in depth & specialize. The following are orthopaedic physical therapy theories we’ve found effective & evidence based, have training in, and apply when appropriate:

  • Applied Functional Science (AFS) through the Gray Institute – one of only 3 clinics in the Boise area with this exceptionally effective and efficient strategy of assessing & treating movement patterns and what drives them – the convergence of physical, behavioral,  & biological sciences.
  • Functional Manual Reaction (FMR)
  • Functional Soft Tissue Transformation (FSTT) – Assessment and treatment of optimal facial stability & mobility throughout specific tasks & postures
  • Mulligan approach of Mobilization with Movement
  • Myofascial Release
  • NAIOMT – North American Institute of Manual Therapy
  • SASTM – Fascial mobilization as taught by David Graston
  • Sahrmann – Diagnosis & Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes
  • Many more & always adding, studying
